5 Simple Ways to Develop a Positive Attitude (for Teens & Young Adults)

Your attitude is 100% of your life.

If this sounds weird, let's do some simple math.

In alphabetical order, let's check the alphabet according to their numbers.

A = 1

T = 20

T = 20

I = 9

T = 20

U = 21

D = 4

E = 5

When we add the numbers, we'll have:

A+T+T+I+T+U+D+E

1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100

This sums up to tell us that attitude is everything. Keeping a positive attitude can be difficult, especially during challenges. But when you stay positive, you can maintain better health, overcome your challenges and achieve your goals.

Whenever a negative thought stays crawling in, change it to a positive thought. And If you are struggling to build a positive attitude, especially as a teen or young adult. Make sure to read this post to the end.

1. Have a positive self-talk

Self-talk is your inner voice. It is the way you talk to yourself. Self-talk can be positive or negative. Negative self-talk brings bad vibes and prevents you from reaching your potential. While positive self-talk boosts your confidence and self-esteem, improves your health, and helps you reach your potential.

Always look on the bright side of things. Think good about yourself. Do not dwell on the negative sides of things. Rather focus your energy on the good things no matter how small they look.

2. Practice gratitude

According to Havard Health, "Gratitude helps people feel more emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships".

Appreciate everything. Be grateful for the small things. Every day, think of three things you are grateful for.

3. Always have a good laugh

Keep your good sense of humor intact. Have a good laugh even in the face of challenges. It sends some good vibes down your body. Don't be too serious with your life.

A quote from Sarah & Blake;

Laugh my friend, for laughter ignites a fire within the pit of your belly and awakens your being.

Laughter is good medicine.

The Bible agrees with this, "A cheerful heart is a good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" - Proverbs 17:22.

In case you're figuring out how to do that, go to your room, close the door, take off your clothes and look into the mirror. I'm sure you'll have a good laugh. Maybe you are already after reading this.

4. Be in the company of positive people

To have a positive attitude, you have to surround yourself with positive people. As a teenager or young adult, spend time with people who are positive while being positive yourself. Remember that your personality can be affected by people you associate with.

Make friends who spread positivity. Being in the company of positive people can rub off greatly on you and vice versa. You will be motivated to do great things and reach the top.

5. Have a Journal

Keep a journal where you write down the positive things that happened to you each day. Do not focus or write down the negative things. Your journal is exclusively for positivity.

What are the things that you're grateful for? Write them down.

What are the things that happened each day that made you happy? Write them down

Did you achieve any goals that day? Write them down and appreciate or reward yourself.

You can write about something that made you smile or laugh or something good that happened to you. Whatever made you feel good each day should be written down in your journal.
